Growing Up

This is Zoe in the outfit she wore to the BPA awards ceremony tonight. She didn't win any awards, but I'm certainly proud of her for participating. She bought the skirt with her very own babysitting money. I'm proud of her for that, too. Those shoes? They're mine. Zoe, Eve, and I all share shoes now, which is pretty neat, except when I can't find my shoes because one of the girls is wearing them.

Hello, and welcome to my family's blog. I'm Kyndra, a working mom, and my husband, Rob is a working dad. Our daughters are very typical, all-American girls, and our son is perfect. We also have a Jack Russell Terrier, Kokopelli (Pelli) who is four and just what you'd expect of a Jack Russell.

I'm an English teacher. Right now I'm only teaching part time for the local community college and an online consortium of community colleges. Next year I plan to go back to work teaching high school full time.

The girls are all little geniuses, and, if you know them, you know I'm not just saying that. In fact, Eve, who is now in 9th grade, scored very high on her 7th grade FCAT (99th percentile for everything), so she was "tagged" for the Duke University Talent Identification Program, and took the ACT when she had just turned 12 years old, scoring high enough to be admitted into the program. Zoe, who is now in 10th grade, has already completed 3 college credits, and also scored high enough on the ACT, which she took in 8th grade, to be admitted into Duke TIP. Sophia, now in 6th grade, finished up her 4th grade year reading beyond 12th grade level, according to the testing the elementary school does. Juliet scored a 5 for math on FCAT in the 3rd grade and excelled at math in 4th grade. She's now in 5th grade and is doing just as well in all of her subjects. Tabitha has superior artistic talent, both for drawing and writing, and had a poem published last year when she was in 3rd grade. Clara is in 3rd grade now, and makes straight As, as she has every year. Gemma, who is in kindergarten, can read and spell short words by sounding them out. Little Violet, who is only four, can sing her ABCs, knows her colors, and can write everyone's names in the family. Levi is only one, but he knows all of his sisters by name (this may sound easy, but remember that he has eight of them). He knows where is tummy is, although he sometimes confuses his nose with his toes. He does know where to put his shoes, anyway, but just this morning he tried to put his jacket on like a pair of pants. Ivy-Jane, the baby, is a genius, too. I can tell by the bright eyes. Obviously superior intellects. :)
